VisVIP Context
|
The Web Metrics dataflow diagram
shows how VisVIP depends on other components of Web Metrics.
VisVIP adheres to the standard directory
structure for WebMetrics. Thus, the environment
variable $WEBLOG_DATA must be set, so that VisVIP knows where to find
its input files.
In particular, VisVIP uses the pages.dat and links.dat files (see Analyzing the Website) to draw the linked website, and the associated *.up files to draw userpaths through the website.

Invoking VisVIP
|
There is a mandatory "website" parameter to be used when invoking
VisVIP, so that it knows which website to portray, e.g.:
visvip.oglx website=site-2b-tested For detailed instructions on all the individual features of VisVIP, start it up and then click on the various yellow help boxes in the menu window. The help system also contains documentation on all the other parameters that can be used at invocation. Note in particular the "session" and "task" parameters which let you control the set of userpaths available for display. Read the respective procedures for the Windows and Unix environments. |
