Metro and Shuttle:

The Washington Metro
has subway service to Gaithersburg. The metro can
be boarded at Ronald Reagan Washington National airport. Take a yellow line
train marked "Mount Vernon Square" to Gallery Place and transfer to a
red line train marked "Shady Grove" to the Shady Grove station.
Service is every 6 to 15 minutes, depending on the time of day.
Travel time from Ronald Reagan Washington National to Shady Grove is
about 50 minutes. The one-way fare is less than $5.
Taxis are available from the Shady Grove Metro Station to the hotel.
On weekdays, NIST provides mini van shuttle service for official visitors and staff to and from the Shady Grove Metro Station. Seating is limited. Visitors using Metro can meet the NIST shuttle at the east side (as you exit the turnstiles, the right-hand exit, not the exit with the escalator) "Kiss & Ride" area of the Shady Grove Metro Station at 15 and 45 minutes past the hour from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. The shuttle departs from the front of the NIST Administration Building on the hour and half hour, and stops at NIST North four minutes later on the way to the Metro station. |
The Washington Metro has subway service to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The Metro System can be boarded at Shady Grove Metro Stop. Take a red line train to Gallery Place, transfer to a yellow line train to National Airport. Service is every 6 to 15 minutes, depending on the time of day. The time from Shady Grove to Ronald Reagan Washington National is about 50 minutes. The Shady Grove Station is approximately four miles from the hotel and NIST. You will need to take a taxi to/from Metro. (There is a NIST/Shady Grove shuttle, but it is just a small minivan so do not depend on it.)
