Shawn Henry is a Senior Usability Specialist with Compuware Corporation where she established the Accessibility and Standards group. Shawn has been in the technical communications field since 1987 and has an educational background in computer science, communications, and human factors.
Recently Shawn has helped Fortune 500 companies define, document, maintain, and implement user interface design standards for Windows and Web applications. She has experience in all phases of user interface design, including analysis, graphical user interface (GUI) and Web design, and usability testing. Shawn has led the user interface design effort for numerous projects for a wide range of applications, development tools, and industries. She has developed workshops on the process of UI design and is a sought-after speaker on usability and accessibility issues.
Shawn actively advances work in accessibility and standards. She serves on the Advisory Committee for the Trace Research and Development Center, the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Access to Information Technology funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research. She contributes to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) work on accessibility standards and is a member of HFES/HCI 200, the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society Technical Standards Committee developing software interface standards for the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
